An escape to the Futuroscope by Laurence Boxall

An escape to the Futuroscope 0THE FUTUROSCOPE
The only park like it in Europe!

With over 25 original attractions, the Futuroscope is the park of excitement. An opportunity to discover the newest technologies through visual rides and to learn amazing information while experiencing incredible sensations. A truly unique experience...

An escape to the Futuroscope 1I particularly recommend their brand new ride: The Extraordinary Journey. With your legs dangling free, you take to the skies for a round-the-world journey where fiction meets reality. You will know what it feels like to fly like a bird.

Other things to see and do around the Futuroscope

An escape to the Futuroscope 3La Vallée des Singes

A wonderful park where you can get very close to the monkeys and share a bit of their life. You can watch the groomers feed them in front of you and talk about each species. I was surpised to learn that a baby Bonobo can die of sadness if he is separated from his mum or that a chimpanzee can recognize over 350 plants. And did you know that 17 species of Gibbon and the Orang-utan are going to disapear because of palm oil culture inside your Nutella?!

Shall I sleep in a treehouse, a mushroom or a chicken?

An escape to the Futuroscope 2

DéfiPlanet : A park naturally different.

National leader in quirky Glamping and treehouse holidays in France, Défiplanet offers over 15 types of unusual places to stay in including tree houses, gypsy caravans, yurts, chicken or mushroom and snail houses. I tried the tree house, a lovely and cosy wooden accommodation with all modern comfort. Close the door and you will feel alone in the world in your own bubble of happiness. My breakfast basket was delicately placed at the foot of my tree house and it was up to me to pull it up to sample it on the terrace whilst observing the nature that is waking up.

Tree house from €99 for 2 people per night.

Or maybe I will sleep on water in Pressac

An escape to the Futuroscope 4

Village flottant

While away if you wish to stay in a place where you can enjoy your own digital detox, then ditch the itinerary and try the floating village of Pressac. The 20 thatched houses sleep from two to five and are in the middle of a lake. You have to reach your cabins by boat. An experience with nothing as fancy as running water or mains electricity: just dry toilets. My best memory will be the breakfast on the deck. (from €130 a night for 2)
